ABOUT
I grew up playing tennis and waiting for our next trip to Acapulco. A special weekend treat included drinking a tiny bottle of Chaparrita soda at one of the downtown pebbled streets of Mexico City. Chaparrita later became my nickname (it means shorty).
Fascinated with art and learning, I became an education professional creating engaging and fun experiences for children. I worked with artists, designers, and scientists developing new interactive museums.

I also lived in Playa del Carmen, Mexico; Madrid; Salamanca, Spain, and in 2010, I moved to Arizona. I live in the desert with my husband, two amazing niños that help me pick character names, a dog and three fish.

In 2020, I won the "We Need Diverse Books" Picture Book Mentorship with author Rob Sanders.

I help coordinate the Equity and Inclusion Team for SCBWI-AZ and I'm a co-founder of the annual Twitter event LatinxPitch. Both efforts aim to support and boost underrepresented voices in Kidlit.

I'm represented by James McGowan at BookEnds Literary.
