 ABOUT

I grew up playing tennis and waiting for my family's next trip to Acapulco. A special weekend treat included drinking a tiny bottle of Chaparrita soda at one of the downtown pebbled streets of Mexico City. Chaparrita later became my nickname (it means shorty).

Fascinated with art and learning, I became an education professional creating engaging and fun experiences for children. I worked with artists, designers, and scientists developing interactive exhibits and museums.

My graduate school research at Universidad Complutense de Madrid became a series of three textbooks, my first publication in the educational market in 2008. I also published early readers and chapter books by Teacher Created Materials.

I've lived in Madrid and Salamanca, Spain; Playa del Carmen, Mexico; and in 2010, I moved to Arizona. I live in the desert with my husband, two amazing niños that help me pick character names, a dog and three fish.

In 2020, I won the "We Need Diverse Books" Picture Book Mentorship.

I'm a member of Las Musas Books and co-founded the annual Twitter event LatinxPitch.

I'm represented by James McGowan at BookEnds Literary.
